The School of composing, the song construction (part 2)

In the previous episode we discussed the construction of a music track.

Why is this so important? Repeatability certain passages allows the listener to identify with the song.

The construction of songs, Part 2

If a song does not have repeated motifs, it will not arouse interest for the listener. so what ? that you build great (you think) track, when no one wanted to hear it. Rule Two, the work can not be boring. Often the internet I hear the songs, where guitarist sits down and plays the guitar with five minutes playing solo, the same or similar piece. Who can listen to it? But the guy does not care, and he records an another piece and gives this on Facebook, Youtube.

Every composer should try to be for moment an ordinary listener.

What features should have a good track?

Each song should contain a recurring theme and should not be boring. It's two most important features. What is it the recurring theme ? In our piece it is the refrain or the letter A. In the whole song the refrain is repeated several times. Verses, that is, the letters B, C, D, complement the track.

The Refrain

The Refrain of the song is part with a more melodic construction. Its function is to allow the listener to remember the main theme of the song. Therefore, there is the refrain in the song many times.

The refrain should be almost the same, but should not ideal the same. Why?

The song should be interesting, this is our second principle

For the simultaneous combination of a common theme and interest of the listener will need to build the refrain, which will be slightly different in individual letters A.

Yes, but what is different, the main theme of the song and the refrain? The main theme of the song is a part of the refrain and is the same in all parts of type A. The rest of the refrain are a fragments of different melodic line.

example

introduction + main theme of the song = The first A

main theme of the song + guitar solo = The second A

main theme of the song + epilogue of the song = The last A

So the refrain is more melodic part of the song, catchy

Of course, it may be Riff, and about how to create a good Riff, I will say later
